Just wanted to pass onto my congratulations to the TuxGuitar developers and the community, TuxGuitar, although not as good as GP5 (which is expected, of course), is a fantastic free alternative and saved me half an hour of swearing at WINE.
It sounds good and is much better than GP4, just GP5 that beats it, purely on sound, because RSE is so win. But TuxGuitar still sounds great, and I'll be donating for sure.

Hello,
I also wanted to congratulate the Tux team for that great dev.
Especially on Mac, it was the missing piece of software.
Thanks guys.

Yup!
I use it on the Mac mainly, but also on my Linux machine.
It is a great piece of software and my band used it for making our debutalbum to exchange songs and ideas!

Just wanted to say thank you to the developers of this software.
I am very familiar with GP on the PC but since moving to Mac I felt really let down. Mac GP5 is advertised as having all the functionality of the PC version - which is bs. There's no 'step' function and the Speed trainer (or any looping) is too glitchy to use as a training aid. The crap performance of the speed trainer made the software almost useless for me.
I'll be sticking with Tux as it does all i need it to do and is free.
Thank you

Hi, i'm a guitar noob but long time linux user.
Tuxguitar just rules out everything else well, because I only use Linux :)
Thing is I recently wanted to do more and tabs came along and I needed a way to read'em. I found my answer with Tuxguitar.
Now i'm onto JACK with Rakarrak for effects and tux guitar as backtrack.
I'm on wonderland although I still couldn't find a way to record everything as a whole (guitar and backtrack) on a flac file to listen my own errors or better yet have the performance reviewed by someone who knows better.
I was looking for a way to use jack plugin and I think I just found the answer to what I was doing wrong.
What I mean with all this is simple. WHAT A GREAT PIECE OF SOFTWARE. Thanks.

Here's my +1.
Just downloaded it yesterday onto my MacPro/SnowLeopard, and I'm impressed. Lovely toolbar icons BTW

As a fingerstyle guitarist who creates his own arrangements, I find that Tux Guitar does all I require.
As is, it is awesome, as a work in progress.... well I am excited to see how you could possibly make it better.
My opinion would be the same whether it was free or not.
Good work!!

I'm in agreement; it works and it even looks polished! It's actually quicker on an older, slower Linux system than GP6 is on a newer, faster XP system. Go figure.
What an awesome program!

What they all said. After coming across loads of crappy software on Linux, I gave TuxGuitar a try. Wow, it's extensive, intuitive, sensibly designed, and does exactly what I was looking for. I was able to transcribe a couple of songs I had been toying around with for a while within a couple of hours and they sound great. Many thanks to the developers.
