Hello, I have tuxguitar-1.2. I can view the files perfectly, and they play fine as well. However, the sound is pretty poor (e.g. the "Distortion guitar" sounds more like a cheap synthesizer).

I do have timidity, and it is running. I did read some past threads, and read about tuxguitar-fluidsynth; however, I downloaded the x86_64 .tar.gz file, and it doesn't contain tuxguitar-fluidsynth. I also downloaded the "GNU/Linux x86 installer", and installed that, and saw that there is 'tuxguitar-fluidsynth', but when I tried to run tuxguitar it didn't work.

Here is my system information: [CentOS 5.4, 64-bit]
Linux cwatson.homeunix.net 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5.centos.plus #1 SMP Fri Jan 8 16:47:55 EST 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Please let me know if you need more information and I will gladly give it to you.

Thank you,
Chris

The plugin wasn't built for 64bit.. you have to manually build it if you want to use it.

but you can use fluidsynth with alsa plugin (as you do with timidity).
so you don't have to build the plugin to use fluidsynth.

By other hand,

I don't think it will change with fluidsynth or any other plugin..
it's about the soundfont/samples that you have configured.

you could just try to configure timidity to use a different soundfont.
