can't find Silences ,do i place dead notes instead ???

Silences are allways there. if there is not a note, so there is a silence.
when you start a new song, a new measure with a "whole" silence is created.
So you don't have to place a dead note, you only have to "don't add the note". and the application will fill the empty place with a silence.
