All the tracks in my composition are playing like they should, but I would like to be able to able to "see" all the tracks playing on the fretboard or the piano at the same time.
Is this not possible? Or am I missing something?

No, it is not possible. And if it is, it would look like mess.

Maybe with some pieces it would look like a mess, but in other situations it would be nice to have that option. For instance, I have imported a classical piece composed for the clarinet and flute... on the guitar both parts can be played at the same time and it would be nice to see those parts playing simultaneously. Right now it's incredibly hard to get an idea of how to play both of these parts simultaneously when I have to switch back and forth between midi channels.
Also, many guitar midi files are split into channels when the whole piece could be played on a single guitar.
I could always integrate the notes on all the midi channels onto one single channel with a different program then import it to tuxguitar... but I'm not sure every tuxguitar user has the ability to do that.

John, maybe what you need is a tool to "merge tracks" instead of display all on a fretboard.
I mean, if you have a song of a clarinet and flaute, and you want your Guitar version of that piece.
merging tracks will be the solution.
but that is very different than merge them on fretboard/piano only.
A merge tracks plugin is more easy to write.
But there will be allways problems with that.
TuxGuitar is a guitar based application.
so it don't allow you have more notes peer beat than "Strings" your track have.
Merging a track, can easly cause "lost notes" if any beat from track1 + track2 have more notes than strings are.
So there will be no guarrantly about final results.

Ah... I see what you are saying.
I just thought it would be convenient to have the option to temporarily merge two or more tracks to play on the fingerboard or piano roll for specific pieces of music.
Could tuxguitar possibly integrate an option to merge two or more tracks in the future? Or should I look for an application to manually do that myself?

....me again....
Just thinking about what you (Julian) were saying. Really there isn't any foolproof way of merging tracks without losing notes.... even in the case that both tracks are playing single notes.
Is there any way to accomplish what I'm trying to do without a lot of editing of the midi files myself?

Well yes, "merge tracks" option is planned for a long time, but there are lots of other tasks with higher priority.

I understand.
By the way... I would like to say this is an excellent program. Thank you guys for developing it!
