I was wondering if its possible to transpose one or all of the tracks. For example if i want to make the tenor sax part in take five playable on trombone.

Julian, you can see that in Guitar Pro.
For example, you have a bass track with EADG tuning, then you change tuning (BTW this is another issue) to DGCF or D#G#C#F# (one step down or half step down) and now the application should make all notes go down/up so the track won't change. Of course, the numbers of frets will change but the "music representation" of song won't.
It's simply transcribing once again whole track considering new tuning. The notes are the same, only fret numbers changes.
However this is just a little piece of work. What should be done is possibility of transposing to another instrument (more or less strings).
I think that this is not that difficult to add. App can simply shift every "number" by some value. Of course it should watch not to go out of fretboard (-1 fret or so), so there is another feature request: setting the count of frets.
I hope that I don't mess with your mind.

Few more words about "another issue" above. I think that in the instrument properties dialog should be some list of standard tunings (like I said above EADG,DGCF or so) instead of setting offset or with cooperation with that control.

Thanks in advance for reading my whining. Also thanks for good job.

It is adding int value (positive or negative) to every note in whole transcription or one track (except in percussion track), so you get the transpose effect... A little re-arrangment should be done when fret value is <0, and then it can make a mess, because you have to move the tone to lower string.

It is really easy to implement positive transpose (fret=fret+integer), but algorithm for transpose to lower tones looks complicated to me in too many cases. When we're talking about notation, it's easy, but we have tabs here, and strings to take care of!

If you guys have some ideas, let me know!

I agree this is an essential feature (to me perhaps the only one missing compared to guitar pro). This is required to adapt fingering when changing the tuning, or changing to instruments with a different tuning (e.g. bass or stick vs guitar - this can be much more complicated than a simple translation, specially for the stick).

Some comments :
- this should be an option when changing the tuning (preserve either notes or fingering): currently SWT only preserves the fingering, while the notes are changed (notice there is a mixup in GP5; this is called "transpose" option, but it both transposes the notes and changes the fingering, so that the score no longer corresponds to the tab; but at least it provides a fingering adapted to the other instrument);
- missing bass notes could be transposed one octave higher;
- a user library of possible tunings is useful in this context;
- the fretboard must be transposed accordingly for chords, modes, and scales.

Congratulations for the nice work, anyway (I found that SWT can read corrupted GP5 files generated by GP5 itself).

It's not as difficult as you may think.

For transposing to a higher note you have to start at the highest tuned side. After adding the integer value for the desired numbers of halftones you have to compare the value to the number of the next side. If higher then you have to subtract this number and place the note one side higher. That has to be done as long as this possibilty exists.

For transposing to a lower note you have to start on the lowest side and subtract the integer value, If less then zero ....

(I did that very long ago on a viwer version thought for the zaurus pda: http://members.cheese.at/woody/zaurus/#fltk-tabviewer)
