When playing a tab on tuxguitar, the sound seems to come about an eight of a note behind the tab. So the note on the tab turns red and then after an eight of a note the sound comes. Though it doesn't really affect anything, it can get pretty frustrating when trying to learn new songs. Does anyone else have this problem, and can someone provide a solution?

PS. Forgive me if my English is incomprehensible, because it is not my native language.

It's related with the MIDI port that is used.
what is yours?
look from menu "Tools -> Settings", at sound tab.
What other options do you have available to select ?

I'm using Java Sound Synthesizer, and the only other option is Midi Through Port-0 [14:0]

Try install timidity or fluidsynth..
fluidsynth is the best in timming ( for me ) but allmost users prefer timidity
