I'm a recent convert from Windows to Linux... I've been using the Powertab software for years now, and have not been very successful in getting it to run under wine. Finding out about this program and the fact that it can read Powertab files was a huge inspiration...
However, it does not read them exactly correctly. I've tested this with several .ptb files and have run into several problems... The tracks get out of synch with eachother, and the program does not recognize "repeats" - both beginning and ending...
I would like to suggest that the authors get in contact with the author of Powertab to see if he will provide you with the exact specifications for the .ptb format. We need a pure Linux client that can read and write these files and this is the best one that I have found in my lengthy searches. Wine sucks, and I, as I'm sure, many others would rather have a pure Linux client that we can use for these files...
I've posted a similar message on the Powertab boards, requesting their author to get in touch with the Tuxguitar authors... Hopefully, something positive can come of this...
Just my two cents...
Thanks.
