Subject 1.1 vs 1.0 mac -- things are missing!

in v. 1.1:
--Everything prints in black, no color or greyscale. I liked having the tab lines grey!

--The stems no longer extend to the tab notes, which I think impairs the tablature's readability.

And... I can't open the files I made in 1.1 with 1.0 (grr!)
Is there a way of making the files backward-compatible? I much prefer 1.0's printouts.

thanks

Dan

Hi,

-->> Everything prints in black, no color or greyscale. I liked having the tab lines grey!

It was setted all to black, because problems on some printers. maybe we can add an option to print colors or not.

-->> The stems no longer extend to the tab notes, which I think impairs the tablature's readability.

It is because this new version have 2 voices support.
Without this change, with 2 voices the stems looks like horrible.

--> And... I can't open the files I made in 1.1 with 1.0

Each version can't see the future, 1.1 will no open 1.2 files.
but, you can "export" the file to 1.0 format.
on tuxguitar 1.1, you can go to menu "Files -> Export -> TuxGuitar 1.0"
then you'll be able to open the file with tuxguitar 1.0

Thanks! Why didn't I think to check the export menu on 1.1? Duh..!

I guess I'll be going back to 1.0, but I'll really miss the standard Apple-key functions which you implemented in 1.1!

While you're working on the next version...:

I'd sure like to see the old-style stems available as an option.

And while I'm asking, how about a variable setting for the WIDTH of the staff lines? (as well as the spacing, which I know is already changeable via the config.properties file).

I'll also throw in a vote for enabling an anacrucis (AKA pick-up measure).

Thanks again,

Dan

Ok, i'll try to add an option on the config dialog ( this one where you select display score, tablature, etc.. )
to set paint colors or no..

>> how about a variable setting for the WIDTH of the staff lines?
It's more complicated.. because depends on the layout ( linear, page, printer ).
there is one key, that modifies the with for Page layout ( because some people have problems with dual screens ).
but we can't set it for Linear mode..
And the printer, is calculated from page size.
you maybe want to configure page margins instead of staff width ?

>> can we have greyscale at least when exporting to PDF files?
The PDF exporter uses same PrinterLayout ( but it send the output to itext instead of the printer )
so, adding the option to the printer, modifies:
Print, Print Preview and Export PDF.

I don't think I was clear enough about the width....

I was referring to the (vertical) thickness of each line of the staff (in pixels or points), not its width across the page (which is automatically limited by the paper size and margins).

Sorry.
