How do I make the the guitar sound distorted

Hi, I'm trying to put down an original song on tuxguitar but the guitar sounds like shit. Is there anyway I can make it so it sounds distorted like... Disturbed's tone maybe? I've tried changing it to overdrive guitar and distortion guitar and they both sounded like shit. Do I need to download a plugin or something? Thanks

What MIDI Port do you have selected at "Tools -> Settings" , in Sound tab ?
