Yes, it seems that Ubuntu repository package (I tried on 10.04) has GCJ version of TuxGuitar which has some problems with drawing.
I installed Java version and it works like a charm.
32-bit version:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/files/TuxGuitar/TuxGuitar-1.2/tuxguitar-1.2-linux-x86.tar.gz/download
64-bit version:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/files/TuxGuitar/TuxGuitar-1.2/tuxguitar-1.2-linux-x86_64.tar.gz/download
* Note that you need sun-java6 to run the application.

Yes, it seems that Ubuntu repository package (I tried on 10.04) has GCJ version of TuxGuitar which has some problems with drawing. Besides the tracks diagram, it doesn't render lines of notation and tabs, and who know what else.
I installed Java version and it works like a charm.
