audio conflicts

Hello everyone. I am experimenting a technical problem. When I run tuxguitar only I can hear the audio without any problem. Unfortunately if I open other applications like Banshee, Totem or a web browser their audio will not work. Also if I open tuxguitar having previously opened one of those applications audio will not work in tuxguitar. Is there any way to solve these conflicts? I am using tuxguitar 1.1 on Ubuntu Karmic
