First of all, congratulations! TuxGuitar is looking great.

I have a problem with my gp4 files. The thing is that the instruments sound as if they were out of tune. I used DGuitar to play the same files and they sound good with it.

I don't have the same problems with files created with TuxGuitar.

Note: I don't get any error messages when I'm running the program.

I'm using:

* Ubuntu 7.10
* The soundbank in JRE 6

What else should I check?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

try this queries please (paste here the result):
# to know if you have more than 1 JVM installed from sun.
dpkg -l | grep sun-java

# to know if tuxguitar-alsa is installed
dpkg -l | grep tuxguitar-alsa

# dguitar script, run with that java command
# maybe the result is other JVM than used for tuxguitar.
/usr/bin/java -version

> The soundbank in JRE 6
is it setted as "default" or "custom" ?
see at menu "Settings -> Confiure TuxGuitar" -> Sound

do you have any way to send me one of that gp4 files ?

Here's the output Julian:

# to know if you have more than 1 JVM installed from sun.
dpkg -l | grep sun-java

ii sun-java6-bin 6-03-0ubuntu2 Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (ar
ii sun-java6-jre 6-03-0ubuntu2 Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (ar
ii sun-java6-plugin 6-03-0ubuntu2 The Java(TM) Plug-in, Java SE 6

# to know if tuxguitar-alsa is installed
dpkg -l | grep tuxguitar-alsa

Nothing!

# dguitar script, run with that java command
# maybe the result is other JVM than used for tuxguitar.
/usr/bin/java -version

java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

> The soundbank in JRE 6
is it setted as "default" or "custom" ?
see at menu "Settings -> Confiure TuxGuitar" -> Sound

I'm using it's default.

do you have any way to send me one of that gp4 files?

Sure, tell me where to send it.

I want to add something else to the description of the problem:

Case I:

1. When I open TuxGuitar and start to add some notes to the default document, the sound is good.
2. Then I save the file, but when I start to play it the sound goes bad.

Case II:

1. When I open TuxGuitar and start to add some notes to the default document, the sound is good.
2. Then I open another file and the sound goes bad.

> Sure, tell me where to send it.
mm no. because your added info, i think the problem is not at the file format importer.

there was no similar bug reported before..

if i understand what you mean with "they were out of tune" ( english is no my native lang )
i think the problem can be the pitch bend midi controls.(used for bends, and slides ) are not reseted after stop ( tuxguitar allways call player.stop() before open/create a new file )

tell me this new case:
1_ add some notes.
2_ play the song
3_ stop ( NOT pause ) and play again

does the bug happend ?

¡Huy!

Nuevo caso:
1. agrego notas
2. reproduzco. Suena bien.
3. paro y reproduzco otra vez. Suena bien

podras hacer esa prueba ??
http://tuxguitar.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/tuxguitar/TuxGuitar/tmp/TuxGuitar-cvs-linux.tar.gz

Solo tenes que descomprimirlo, y ejecutarlo:
tar xfz TuxGuitar-cvs-linux.tar.gz
TuxGuitar-cvs-linux/tuxguitar

Saludos...

sudo apt-get install timidity

y ahi selecciona "Midi Port : Timidity Port 0"

Saludos..

http://www.introspectionstudio.com/tuxguitar_test.tar.gz

Saludos

Once upon a time, I turned pages for Jamie when he performed the Kreutzer Sonata at a studio class. This was before I played it myself, so I was unfamiliar with the theme & variations movement. There's one particular variation which is 2 straight pages of 16th notes, and 2 repeats. I made the mistake of glancing away from the page for a second, and discovered to my horror when I looked back that I couldn't remember a) where we were, and b) whether we had done the repeats. I ended up half-standing & hovering for what seemed like an eternity, with Jamie kindly giving me subtle no shakes and finally a clear yes nod. Then there was the time that I turned for a friend playing in a vocal recital @ Scotiafest. He asked me at the last minute as a favour, so I accepted, forgetting that I was battling the remnants of a nasty cough. There's nothing like being on stage and NOT BEING ALLOWED TO COUGH that will make you want to cough up a lung. I managed to get through the entire thing without once coughing during a piece, but then had a friend in the audience comment on the odd expression on my face at various times.
