i am on fedora8.
i downloaded "tuxguitar-1.0-rc2-linux-installer.bin"...i installed it. i started the tuxguitar and opened a .gp3(guitar pro file) but when i click on play there was no sound...
i then checked the sound setting from
tools>settings>sound and this is what i saw:
Midi Sequencer:
Real Time Sequencer (with and option to chage to TuxGuitar Sequencer)
Midi Port:
Midi through port-0 (no more options to choose)...
what do i do?

Midi througth port-0 never play sounds as default..
Try install a software synthesizer like timidity.
then run it as daemon: timidity -iA -Os
and select a timidity port on tuxguitar.
