Subject 1.0 Mac won't run?

Been running 1.0rc4 very nicely w. OSX 10.3.9 -- The new release 1.0 (which BTW I had to look under "other" to find, as the main Mac download link still points to rc4) quits after the splash screen, with a crash message of "java has unexpectedly quit".

Whuzzup? Does the new version require a later version of Java (ergo an OS upgrade)?

Dan

Hi, No it don't need a newer version.
there are no big changes since rc4.
maybe the problem can be at SWT library, si 1.0 was released with a newer version of it.

can you run tuxguitar under a terminal and show me the error log?

Hmm... I'm not exactly conversant with all that UNIX command-line stuff, but....

I opened the Terminal app, and dropped into it the "tuxguitar" which I found in the "MacOS" folder of the contents of TuxGuitar. Hit and TuxGuitar tried (and failed) to start in the usual way.

The only thing the terminal had to say about it was:

Bus error

Any further suggestions? Is there a prefs file or some such thing left over from an earlier version which needs to be trashed?

Do you know how to open the .dmg file contents ?
if you can do that, try please replace the file:
/Contents/MacOS/lib/swt.jar
from 1.0-rc4 release to this 1.0

Replaced the swt.jar file.

Now TuxGuitar will get past the splash screen and show a blank document, BUT none of the dropdown menu commands (open, new, close, properties, etc.) do anything, nor will the close-document button in the upper left of the screen (which would also quit the app in the previous version).

Apple-Q does shut it down, with no complaint from the OS.

Ok, we need see the internal error to know what is happening.

I'm not a mac user, so don't have idea how to deploy any application on a terminal.
but i'll quote here, what "Auria" told on other post:
> right-click TG, select show package contents, open Contents/MacOS.
> Then open Terminal from the Utilities directory, and drag and drop the
> 'tuxguitar' executable onto the terminal window and press enter)

Please try to do that and paste here all terminal log.

mmm fuck.. it was my mistake.
I forgot to remove 1 fucking line from the sources.
that method requires jre1.5 or later but the comic thing is it's not in use.

Try download this file:
http://tuxguitar.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/*checkout*/tuxguitar/trunk/TuxGuitar/tmp/tuxguitar.jar

You should paste it at "Contents/MacOS" overriden the buggy other.

I'll try to rebuild and updated version when have more time.

hi, i'm a mac user too, but i don't know enough to follow this instructions, so i prefer to wait for the update.

Is the version 1 updated yet?

by the way, the link in the download section still links to version 1.0rc4
