Hi,
I have a big problem running tuxguitar. Tuxguitar is installed, but there is no sound!!!

I have installed:
Open Suse 11
Java version 1.7.0

Audio setting under tuxguitar:

Midi sequencer: TuxGuitar Sequencer
Midi Port: Midi Through Port-0 (14:0)

I'm also wondering why I can't find any Java-Settings in "Sound"....

Maybe anyone here has a idea how t solve this problem. I would be glad.

Thanks!

"Midi Thrught Port" never play sounds as default.
you need to install any software synthesizer like "timidity"
if you install it, you can run it as:
timidity -iA -Os

and then you should able to select any timidity port in tuxguitar.

Is "Java Sound Api" plugin installed on tuxguitar ??
What tuxguitar release did you downloaded ?

If you maybe got GCJ release, it don't support Java Sound Api services.

Hi Julian,
thanks. You have solved the problem. Now I can hear a sound :-)

I use tuxGuitar 1.0. I have installed it by the Packman-repository.
Yesterday I have also installed Java:
ahab@linux-s1bj:~> java -version
java version "1.7.0"
IcedTea Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b24)
IcedTea Client VM (build 1.7.0-b24, mixed mode).
But when I start TuxGuitar by terminal I get many errors:
ahab@linux-s1bj:~> tuxguitar
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/widgets/Control

I don't have idea how packman repository package was builded.
but the issue here is that you are missing SWT library.

When you installed java 1.7. did you remove any older java version ?
I think maybe java1.7 removed 1.6, and "swt" (needed for tuxguitar) have 1.6 dependency and was removed too.

Try run:
tuxguitar -i

And see on "Java-Class-Path:" result, where tuxguitar is looking for "swt.jar". (e.g: /usr/lib/java/swt.jar )

Then check if this file exists on your system.
