Well there are suggestions also about add more than 7..
so i'll try to change this strings range..
But it will not be available for next 1.2 ( that is allmost finished ) because it needs also change issues such as the file format, some exporters plugins..
so i'll add it on the list for 1.3 version.
Just curious.. what instrument have 3 strings ?? i never saw one..

Some lap dulcimers use only 3 strings. I'm sure there would be others also.

From tuxguitar side it could be very easy to modify the string count range.
but the question is what to do with all exporters plugins ?
if we have 3 strings, and have to export the song to a file format that don't support less than 4.. so it's easy, we add an unused string..
but what about if we are having 10 strings and try to export to a format that don't support more than 7.. what happen with the notes of 8,9 and 10 strings..
This question is what stopped this feature for now.

Leave it that if the format is for example 7 strings and want to export to say 6 strings choose what string will be missing and just get rid of that string in the conversion.
Same for any number.

Hi I know this is an old thread, but I accidentally got Tux to do 3-string so I thought I'd search and share.
After installing 1.2, I opened a Power Tab .ptb I did for 3-string cigar box guitar and Tux handled it just fine - composing, playing, saving, and printing. I could even change the 3-string tuning.
Thanks for this software, it's looking good!

Old Greek bouzouki, baglamas, gonato, tzouras, tabouras all have 3 strings... too
