Hi.
Last night I wrote bass and drums to a tab I had, since I lost the versions I had before. Naturally I found them today. What I'd like to do is import tracks from one into the other so that I can mix and match the best of each. Naturally there's no way to do this. I also tried opening two versions and copying from one and pasting to the other. Unsurprisingly, this didn't work.
If there was a function to import tracks from .mid, .tg, .ptb, etc, such problems would be easily fixed (I have similar problems quite often), whereas, as it stands now, I have to open each and copy the notes one at a time by hand. This is not overly fun.

Tonitrus, Well it's not so easy to do this as you think..
When you merge tracks from one file to another, there can be a lot of conflicts.. the measures from different files could have different time signatures/tempo/repeats/tripplet feels etc..
We have to do something for this, maybe some config window, where you could enable/disable some options to tell tuxguitar what do you want to do with these conflicts.

If it is easier/more feasible, being able to copy/paste from one instance of tuxguitar to another would provide the same functionality.

Apparently I didn't actually read your post before replying to it. (Sorry)
Some sort of temporary buffer to load into might be useful. I.e., import/paste in the new track. Tuxguitar notices the track doesn't mesh well, drops it into a separate editing buffer. There you can resolve conflicts, and, once everything is resolved, you can "finalize" it to add it to the track, or something.

What about just an ability to export a track as an, I don't know, .TRK file maybe? and then be able to import that track. not the settings or sound, just the notes.

One way of working around this is to compile the tracks in an editing program, save as midi, and then import from Tuxguitar. I did this with SynthFont (excellent program) using the copy/paste function in the pianoroll pane. Just open two instances of SynthFont and copy tracks from various sources into a single file. Of course all the controllers are lost and the time signatures have to be the same (or compatible?).
