Suggestion #4: Better GM-Soundbank/VST-Support?
Oracle is offering Soundbanks as download for Java-Sound API,
Three versions of enhanced MIDI soundbanks are available in different sizes from the Java Sound web site:
Link:
=====
http://search.oracle.com/search/search?start=1&search_p_main_operator=all&q=soundbank+*.gm+download+&group=Technology+Network
Files to download:
==================
soundbank-mid
soundbank-deluxe
soundbank-min
From that source I got the actual soundbank for my PC.
-- But, would it be possible to add this three soundbanks into the TuxGuitar-Distribution-Packet for Windows? I don't know who has the copyright, but Oracle takes no charge for this download...
Furthermore, there's an interesting Source for MIDI-knowledge at:
Link:
=====
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/sound-dev-guide-1-159173.pdf
If Sun/oracle ist not willing to permit copies of that files in a TuxGuitar Distribution, these links could be added to the Help-Files.
-----------------------------------------
Could it be that a next TuxGuitar-Version might support Virtual Studio Technology (VST, developed by Steinberg) and VST-Instruments? That could mean much improvement for sounds, I think.
If you have some time, listen to some samples at:
http://www.native-instruments.com/
Sounds great, compared with GM, doesn't it?
