Hi :)
As you know, I use tuxguitar reguraly on Linux. It offen displays me the message : "soundbank error", but the solution is simple : close all programs.
So, I wanted to try the Windows version.
Unfortunately, it displays me the message even if I close down all my programs !!!
As I see in, you can make *this* or *that* for using an other soundbank, but seriously, how to say a regularly Guitar-Pro user to use Tuxguitar alternatively to GuitarPro with this damn f*cking error ??
I think you should add the necessary in the windows installer to correct the problem :-)
Thanks in advance !

Hi,
the problem is because your Java Virtual Machine, don't have installed a soundbank...
you can download one from:
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/sound/soundbanks.html
and follow the install instructions.. or you can open as custom soundbank on the tuxguitar config ...

Well... i cant put a java soundbank y the tuxguitar release.. because the License of SUN...
maybe you can ask to SUN, why some JRE packages don't include the file..

In fact, I got J2RE1.4 and 1.5.
I tryed to install the soundbank normaly (lib/sound), but I didn't work.
You should add something like this in the download page :
**Soundbank**
If you are getting a "SOUNBANK ERROR" on WINDOWS :
1/ Get on :
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/sound/soundbanks.html
2/ Download one of the file (deluxe one is better)
3/ Extract it in "C:Program Filestuxguitar-0.8".
4/ Open tuxguitar, get in "settings > Configure Tuxguitar"
5/ Clic on "sound" => "use custom soundbank" => "Choose"
6/ Go to "C:Program Filestuxguitar-0.8" and double-click on the extracted file
:)

Hello,
>>I tryed to install the soundbank normaly (lib/sound), but I didn't work.
this is because there is a wrong path...
this is not "lib/sound".. this must be "lib/audio":
JRE_HOME/lib/audio/soundbank.gm (if is JRE)
or
JDK_HOME/jre/lib/audio/soundbank.gm (if is JDK)

Hi, I had the error "no soundbank" so downloaded it from java sun (http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/sound/soundbanks.html) and copied the file to Program Files/Java/jre1.6.0_03 (ie the newest one that was listed - the higest number shown) in a new folder that I made called "audio". The instructions are on the above website.
Now it works great! I can listen to guitar pro files people sent me that wouldn't open in dGuitar (another open source project that opens gp3 files). Thankyou.
If Guitar Pro is opening up then why not uninstall it? Just open the files in the TuxGuitar program.

Hello!
First i had this problem with the soundbank but I think I solved it, at least now I don't get "soundbank error" but it doesn't sound at all when I play a gp4 (or gp3 or gp5)
The sound on the computer is on.
I have the "deluxe soundbank" you linked to.
I haven't put it where it said, I just chose custom soundbank.

I having trouble adding the soundbank, when I go into settings on tuxguitar, there is no "use custom sound bank" under sound. I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 and Tuxguitar 1.0. What do I do?

since 1.0 tuxguitar support some sound plugins.
so each plugin have different configuration.
to configure the old custom soundbank (from Java Sound Api plugin ) you need to to Tools -> Plugins, and configure it.
then, make sure that you are using this plugin to make output sounds. otherwise you'll not heard the changes
